Our Company
GENERAL NANO LLC (GN) was founded in September of 2007 to advance the synthesis and commercial application of carbon nanotubes (CNT). Since then, GN has secured SBIR Phase I & II funding from the United States Air Force, SBIR Phase I funding from the National Science Foundation, and produced and applied CNT thread and ribbon to commercial applications in the aerospace, defense, energy, textiles, biomedial, electronics, and sensor industries.
GN is actively pursuing joint development and technology advancement opportunities.
Our Technical Focus
GENERAL NANO LLC (GN) is an expert in the synthesis and application of carbon nanotubes (CNT). This scientific expertise encompasses the several subareas below. GN is working closely with the University of Cincinnati (UC) on this research and development.
- Substrate design for growing CNT arrays
- Synthesis process conditions to grow super long CNT arrays
- Synthesis of arrays on different types of substrates
- Post processing CNT to improve their mechanical and electrical properties
- Functionalization of CNT to improve their dispersion properties
- Producing intermediate products from CNT including thread, ribbon, and nanocomposites
- Developing applications of CNT and their intermediate products
Nanotechnology products under development include:
- Multifunctional thread that has high strength, electrical and thermal conductivity, and is self-sensing
- Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system development using CNT thread and ribbon
- Health monitoring of different components using CNT thread and ribbon
- Biosensors based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of carbon nanotube electrodes
Other products under development include:
- Machinery condition montioring system based on a continuous accelerometer system (powered by 120V AC or battery powered)
